Julia Thompson Jewellery

Julia Thompson, an award winning ethical jewellery designer maker, uses traditional hand fabrication, lost wax casting and acid etching techniques, to create bespoke contemporary pieces of ethical precious metal art jewellery in the UK. Her unique collections explore familiar tales of superstition and folklore evoked by the Hare and Magpie.

Recycled silver, semi-precious, unusual quartz gemstones and lab-grown stones are an integral part of Julia's work. In addition to this, Julia uses Fairtrade 18ct yellow gold and ethically sourced Australian boulder opals. If not enhanced with an oxidised patina, many of Julia's new 'Two for Joy' magpie collection pieces are painstakingly worked to produce a contrasting high polish and satin brushed finish.

Julia trained at Wimbledon School of Art London, Plymouth University and in Mexico before a four year silver apprenticeship in Somerset. She is a member of The Somerset Guild of Craftsmen and is registered a Fairtrade jeweller
